Swag valances are easy to install in this short video you will see just how simple it is. Swag valances are spectacular as standalone treatments or as a top treatment over your existing blinds or curtains with a decorative rod. Begin your installation by sliding one end of your drapery rod through the elastic gathering on the left side of the valance. To secure your valance, place your finial on the end of your rod and tighten the adjustment screw by turning clockwise. Slide the opposite end of your rod through the gathering on the right side of your valance and attach the second finial.
Your valance may be hung above your window at any height that you prefer. Placing your valance higher will make your window look bigger and block less of your view. Measure 4" to the outside of your window opening and make a guide mark above your window at the height you have selected for your valance rod, then drill or tap starter holes through the center of your marks. If you are installing hardware for a metal rod, your brackets will come in two sections. Secure the L-shaped bracket to the wall with two screws and then place the second portion of your bracket on top of the L-bracket. Slide the adjustment portion of your bracket backward or forward and tighten the adjustment screw to secure your desired depth, then repeat on the right. Take your completed valance and carefully set the pole on your brackets. If your panels will be hanging from a metal rod, secure the rod to your brackets by tightening the adjustment screws. Drape each end of the valance over the top and behind the rod to create the swag look. Adjust the material to create the desired pleats and fullness to complete your look. And that’s it!
